Welcome

There is a special place, a place where abused, neglected, and unwanted animals can find hope. This place is called the Sanctuary. It is a place of healing. Animals of all kinds can be saved, both physically and mentally. Located on acres upon acres of land in Fairfield, Ontario, the Sanctuary has the space and resources to help animals in need. No animal is ever turned away. With the help of skilled veterinarians, excellent veterinary technicians, proven animal trainers, dedicated volunteers, all the staff, and generous members of the community, the Sanctuary is able to continue its work of saving hundreds and hundreds of animals.

But, it is not only the animals that could use the help...

The people involved with the Sanctuary have their own issues, issues most of them prefer to keep hidden. Like a classic trashy soap opera, there is as much drama behind the scenes of the Sanctuary as there is out in the open. It's almost like high-school all over again...

Whatever the case may be, everyone at the Sanctuary lives for animals. It is written,

"Ask the animals and they will teach you."
(Job 12:7).

What will *you* learn from them?

Setting

The snow has finally melted and the new foliage is starting to grow. However, as any Canadian can tell you, Ontario's weather is rather bipolar. One day, expect glorious sun. The next, frigid winds. The next, booming thunderstorms with pouring rain. Don't be surprised if there's even some wet snow thrown in there! Temperatures range from 8˚ C to 18˚ C (46˚ F to 64˚ F). Better have a jacket and an umbrella with you. Don't pull out those shorts and sandals just yet!

    The Town of Fairfield
    [ ]Fairfield General Hospital
Fairfield General Hospital has a 24 hour emergency room. There are many skilled doctors and medical personnel working at the hospital who can perform just about any surgery or procedure that is needed. It is also a wonderful facility if long-term medical treatment or hospice care is required.
    00
    [ ]Fairfield Police Department
Fairfield has a very dedicated police force. They don't have high-tech forensics labs or other fancy things that bigger towns may have, but the officers are very skilled at their craft. There is a special animal cops division of the FPD.
    00
    [ ]Fairfield Town Centre
This is the mall. Though it is a little run down, it is still a very popular place. There is a six-screen cinema, and a food court. There are also a few salons spread throughout the mall. It is nicely decorated inside, though, a little outdated.
    00

    [ ]Common Grounds
This is the local coffee shop. They sell delicious coffee, smoothies, and baked goods. Every Friday is "Open Mic Night" where people can sing, play music, or read poetry. They also have a karaoke night. It is a great place to hang out.
    00
    [ ]Books
The only thing that distinguishes this bookstore as such is the word "BOOKS" painted on its large front window. There is no sign with the true name of the bookstore, in fact, it doesn't even have a name! Why? According to owner William Chesterton, "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Old Chesterton is a bit of an old crackpot, but that certainly doesn't take away from the charm of this quaint little shop.

    [ ]Adagio
Adagio is an absolutely exquisite restaurant. It is co-owned by master chefs Maurice Bardot & Sergio Rossi. Reservations must be made well in advance. There is a black tie dress code. This is the perfect place to pop the question to that special someone.
    00
    [ ]Pressure
It's crowded, it's hot, the music's blaring, and there's a whole lot of provocative dancing going on. What is it? It's a nightclub! It's a rather wild way to spend a Friday night.
    00
    [ ]The Thirsty Trout
This is the perfect place to grab a pint and watch the big game. This local pub is a hit with sports fans around Fairfield. They serve traditional pub food (which means fried, for those who don't know). Their fish'n'chips can't be beat. It is very rare that someone actually leaves the Trout sober.
    00
    [ ]Manny's Diner & Soda Shop
Manny's has been around for well over fifty years and is still going strong. This soda shop is well known for their root beer floats, chocolate malts, banana splits, burgers, and old fashioned shakes. They've even got the old jukebox, that still works if you hit it the right way. Manny has passed on now, but his son and grandchildren run the diner today. Everything at Manny's is done the way it always has been, since 1952.
    00
    [ ]Breaker Beach
If you came for cool, crystal clear water and soft white sand, you're in the wrong place! The water in the lake is ice cold all year round, but that doesn't stop some adventurous citizens from diving right in! The beach is made up of small pebbles and there is a light house on the rocky piece of land that juts out into the water. It really is a beautiful beach, but it certainly isn't the same as a nice Caribbean resort.
    00
    Housing
    [ ]Lakeview Condominiums
As the name suggests, this spacious building offers condominiums overlooking the beautiful lake. These condos are quite large and expensive. Many rich people live here, after all, they're not just apartments -- they're condos!
    00
    [ ]Foxworth Estates
Nothing can compare to the security and beauty of a gated community. Behind the stone walls and that wrought iron gate lies two dozen mansions, each individually built to perfection for their affluent owners. Foxworth Estates is monitored twenty-four hours a day by security guards.
    00
    [ ]Maple Ridge
Just your average, run of the mill subdivision, Maple Ridge offers nice detached homes of varying sizes to accommodate any family. Each house features a front lawn and fenced backyard. Maple Ridge is a nice place to live.
    00
    [ ]Sunset Arms
Although it is old, rundown, dingy, dilapidated, and other unfortunate adjectives, these apartments do make suitable living spaces. The wiring and plumbing haven't been updated since the 1940s, so be prepared. Just make sure you thoroughly inspect and clean the apartment before touching...well, anything.
